Gillieru Hotel

Just returned from a week at this lovely hotel to celebrate a wedding. As always had a brilliant experience beautiful views, good food and extremely friendly and helpful staff. Nothing is too much trouble even when in the day of the wedding we gave a power cut!!!.....luckily one of our friends rooms still had power so we managed to de-frizz our hair! We will definitely be returning.

A pleasant hotel in a quiet area of St Pauls Bay. All staff were pleasant and helpfull. Rooms were clean and comfortable if a bit dated. The owners are slowly updating the rooms we were told. Food was good with a buffet breakfast an adequate menu for 1/2 board with the option of a discount on the a la carte menu. Travel was easy using public transport which stopped near the hotel and is cheap.

We have stayed at this hotel many times. The current owners have made great improvements to what was a sad tired hotel. Staff were so helpful in all areas of hotel. New dining room and bar patio is lovely. New key cars system was being installed whe we were there. Rooms are all being refurbished. Still some floors to be done. However all rooms now have a kettle! Only negative point is the toaster in the dining room. On our last two visits it hasn't been working properly. 4 times in to get brown toast on both sides! "Staff were aware of this problem. However in general dining room was good.

Chose this hotel for its quiet location on St Pauls Bay but close to Bugibba. We were not disappointed. We had a lovely room on the first floor with a picturesque view of the bay. Hotel was clean and service of the room of a good standard. At reception, Mary Rose was a star, she provided us with good advice on trips that we booked through the hotel . The trip on the open bus to the North of the island and the Gozo experience should not be missed. I celebrated a big birthday when on holiday and the hotel kindly helped me celebrated by putting a bottle of wine in our room nicely presented. We stayed in a half board basis, the restaurant also has lovely view and it was good to dine outside. Breakfast was tasty with good produce. Dinner did not work so well although food was good service was always slow. We will return to this hotel but probably not half board.

From first entering the Hotel to leaving,nothing was too much trouble for the staff,from recommendations where to visit on the island to where to eat. Friendly and helpful were the staff. Definitely going back.

Amazing hotel set in a beautiful location in st pauls bay. Relaxed atmosphere very helpful staff. Rooms are comfortable and open up to views of the bay Brand new restaurant overlooking the bay specialising in fresh seafood dishes or set meals accompanied by a well stocked cellar.

The hotel is in an excellent location overlooking the harbour and just a ten minute walk to main bars, shops and restaurants. Sea view rooms cost more, but worthwhile. Clean, tidy, staff quite pleasant, outside cafe bar is open to non residents, and gives a nice feel to the place. Our problem revolved around the sea view restaurant being closed . .with very little prior warning. Meals now served downstairs in a hot, overcrowded basement. Glad we only booked bed and breakfast. There are plenty of local places to eat if you change your booking to b & b. . .and look for the Hornblower boat trip to Blue Lagoon. Fabulous.
