Temple of Poseidon

Temple of Poseidon

You’ll find this trembling temple on Cape Sounio, a headland around 70km south of the Greek capital. It was built in 444 BC, the same year as Athens’ incredible Parthenon. From up here, the views are nothing short of stunning. On a clear day, you can see as far as the islands of Kea and Kythnos in the south and across to the Peloponnese on the mainland to the west.
