Los Gigantes Carnival

Los Gigantes is a riot of colour at the end of February or the start of March when a week-long carnival takes over the central square of La Bouganvilla. There's fancy dress competitions, dancing and processions, and a carnival queen is crowned. The burial of the sardine marks the end of the fiesta - and everyone wails hysterically!
