Cycling in Costa Brava

Professional or hobbyist, you’ll feel right at home on the Costa Brava’s cycling routes. You can train for tougher gradients by the mountains or simply pedal at your leisure and take in the sights. The Route: This pleasant ride takes you north to the lakeside town of Banyoles, famous for being the location of world-renowned rowing events. It’s a relatively easy-going ride with only a few short climbs along the route. You’ll also pass iconic sights such as the Girona Cathedral on the way.

Suitable for: Seasoned cyclists

Distance: 93.1km

The Route: Riders will head south towards the coast and cross Las Gavarres Mountains twice, before navigating across the entire range. The route then snakes back towards the northern Costa Brava, passing the challenging Romany de la Selva.

Girona - Rocacorba - Girona


Suitable for: Daredevils

Distance: 39.5km

The Route: This circular route heads north out of Girona and onto one of the highest and perhaps most challenging mountains in the region, Puigsou. On a clear day, you can even see across the valley to the neighbouring Pyrenees – a well-deserved reward after such a ride!
